About

The 7th edition of Festival Novas Frequências, main international event of experimental music and sound explorations of South America, takes place between the 04th and 10th of december, in Rio de Janeiro. The programa happens in different venues of the city, has 18 different attractions, from 10 different countries, in activities that goes from concerts, performances as result of artistic residencies, club night, sound installation and workshops. 

Continuing with the format of occupying different places of the city, Novas Frequências distribute its events in 7 spaces: Teatro XP Investimentos (the new Teatro do Jockey), Audio Rebel, Parque Leg, Igreja da Lapa, Theatro Municipal (Sala Mário Tavares), MAM - Museu de Arte Moderna do Rio and a secret location to de revealed on the day of the event.

Result of a partnership between the curator Chico Dub and the cultural producer Tatiana Lopes, Novas Frequências was born in 2011 always in search of artists that break with pre established boundaries, looking for new sound languages. For the festival, the experiences with sound are more important than genres and musical styles, properly, what brings it closer to contemporary art, deviating from the idea of music as entertainment.
